The sun is going down

The woods are oh so quiet

The pond lays like a mirror

The trees, all darkened silhouettes

No wind stirs and no bird sings

Only the coyotes begin to call..

…from somewhere far off

And high overhead

A sliver of moon…is smiling…

    1. It’s so peaceful at that time of day. I like to linger then. I have seen them fairly often this year. I saw one just a couple of days ago. I’m going to try to add the photo here. It’s not a great photo and he really blends in. They sound a little spooky when they’re in a group calling. But they only seem to show themselves when they’re alone. And they’re very shy. Really not scary at all.

      1. They remind me of the dingoes in Australia. If I’m alone and it’s getting dark, I might get frighten. We have wild boars and I’ve seen them several times along the trail behind my place. There were twice when I didn’t notice and they just came before me suddenly and walked across. They’re very shy but there have also been reports of them attacking people.

      2. Have you ever seen a dingo on one of your walks? I would be frightened of them near dark too. And boars are around here but, I’ve never seen them on my walks. I would be frightened of them as well. I don’t think coyotes are as aggressive as dingoes but I’m not sure really. When Jack is with me I don’t have anything to worry about. He chases them off 😄. He hasn’t been able to go with me lately though. I miss him out there.

      4. Jack is his always wonderful self 😊. There was a mountain lion in the area for a while. Parks and wildlife came and managed to gather and relocate him elsewhere. His presence put some smaller animals at risk and I was advised to leave the dogs at home for their own safety. It was a big adjustment for me and for the pups. It was very sad for me for a long while. But, we’re all settled in the new ways now. 😊🐾🐶
