Where dinosaurs roam free

Beasts of ancient days

Rabbits hopping in the shade of them

Monkeys playfully on the tail of them

Where butterflies roam free

Twice the size of dinosaurs

Landing on the nose of them

Tickling through to the toes of them

I want to live in a world

Where dinosaurs dream free

Of whales outside of the ocean

Swimming the skies above them

Blowing bubbles to show they love them

Where butterflies dream free

Of you and of me

Whispering the stories of all of us

From the noses to the toes of us

Where love is always the answer

No matter the worried question

Where the wild wonder of us becomes we

And makes a home, in the very heart of me

  2. I am so picturing a T-rex right now gazing down his nose in cross-eyed confusion at the butterfly — which is the size of a whale but weighs about as much as a flower — lands on his nose and blocks out the sun. I love this poem! I love the photos too. ♥.

      The lizard was a little tiny thing and barely noticeable on that rock.
      No doubt, he and Sven would get along just fine, each in their corners. 🐉😄

  16. OH DEAR SUZANNE!!!! It’s a WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL thing when I visit and You’ve posted! I laughed at the title because I can’t see the words “In a world…” without hearing that very dramatically said in commercials when referring to a movie! And….AHHHHH. This poem is vitamins and sunshine and all things beautiful and YES, please!!! I’m coming along. Me too! Thank You for all the joy You just gifted! It’s A LOT!!! I’m sending You the hugest hugs imaginable, so much Love and every joyous emoji that ever even thought about being made!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️!!!!!!!

So much hope…thank you dearly. Oh my gosh! I can Hear that commercial voice in my head. I know exactly which one you mean! “In a World…” 😂. Who is that guy??? And how does he Know so much??? 😂. I KNOW how that movie voice man knows so much: he’s made a trillion zillion quadrodillion dollars doing those voice overs for every blockbuster film ever made so he’s had all the information of all time transplated into his brain!!! It only cost him 5 trillion, but that’s peanuts to him!!! That’s how he knows!!! 🤣 I love Your emoji fascination and confession. I take it to heart and cherish it. This was all fantasy of course, but fantasy I’d be fine with! So if it ever does come to pass that Isabelle makes it to the states to do a bit of a coast to coast treks….wouldn’t that be fun?   20. Years ago, while stationed in North Africa, I watched a beautiful movie called Butterflies are Free. I’d lie if I tell you how it went. I just remember how it made me feel. Your poem made me feel the same way. Thanks for posting.

    What a wonderful world you paint! I want to live there, too!
    Hm, I did, for awhile, live somewhere similar (if we squint!) – on a hill in the south east corner of London called Crystal Palace – so called because the park (I think that in victorian times it was known as Penge Park – which would make sense due to its location, though I have only ever known it as Crystal Palace Park) there was the eventual site of the glass and iron Great Exhibition hall of 1851. The hall is no longer there as it burned down in 1936. But there are still dinosaurs there! They are great statues that were exhibited there in 1856 and remain to this day. They are situated imaginatively among the boating lakes and the overgrown islands therein.

    If you were ever to visit London I would wholly recommend Crystal Palace as a magical destination on several levels and certainly far more memorable than, say, London Dungeons or Madame Tussauds, which are always touted as tourist ‘must-sees’.

      I enjoyed exploring the link very much, thank you. If ever I get to London I look forward to visiting the dinosaurs in their natural habitat. 🙂

      Your thoughts brought to mind a place that used to be here. I saw a picture postcard once of the building all made of glass. It was a fresh fruit market the postcard said. It was gone long before I got here. But, I have thought of it often and how the cheerful colors and lovely scents must have filled the space to over brimming. Why don’t we build places like that again. Crystal Palaces for dinosaurs – Thank you, Nick.
